About the Client
Churchland Psychiatric Associates (CPA) was established in 1983 after the closure of the Community Services Board at Maryview Medical Center, with four founding psychiatrists including Dr. Kenneth Lovko. Located initially in the Churchland area of Portsmouth, Va., the practice relocated between Portsmouth and Chesapeake multiple times, settling in Chesapeake's Poplar Hill Medical Center on Taylor Rd in December 2021. Embracing telehealth before and especially during COVID-19, CPA has expanded its services, incorporating Nurse Practitioners specializing in psychiatry and various licensed therapy services. Dr. Starkey, who joined in 1989 after nine years in the U.S. Navy, succeeded Dr. Lovko as the Medical Director and President of CPA.
